211 has a database of more than 10,000 health and human services programs, cross-referenced for all kinds of keywords. Don't worry if you don't know what type of service you need or the name of specific agency. Just talk with the specialist on the other end of the link and she/he can help you find what you need! All calls are free and completely confidential. 

Aid to Distressed Families of Appalachian Counties (ADFAC) (Anderson County, Campbell, Morgan, and Roane County)

ADFAC can help families with basic needs such as utilities, rent, food and pantry items, referrals, and short term coaching. Home repairs, new home construction, and home ownership education is also available. Brand new school supplies and backpacks for PreK-12 students are also provided in 45 local schools throughout the area. Services vary by county

Child Care Payment Assistance (TN Department of Human Services)

Requirements for eligibility vary, but in general parents who meet the income requirement, have children six weeks to kindergarten, and who work, are enrolled in a post-secondary education program, or a combination of both for 30 hours or more per week may be eligble. Other programs are also available. See the website for information

Cumberland Good Samaritans is a non-profit organization that operates to address the unmet needs of people in crisis in Cumberland County. 

Empower Upper Cumberland (Cumberland, Fentress and other mid TN counties)

Empower UC works to streamline services that are already available and provide new resources, such as milestone payments for meeting goals, financial support to overcome obstacles, and access to resources in the community.

Mid-East Community Action Agency realizes that individuals and families living in poverty may need more immediate support to get through a challenging period. When funds are available, MECAA can help ease the burden of individuals or families in crisis by providing direct finncial assistance to cover basic needs such as food, rent, or utility payments. 

Morgan Scott Project - helps low income families in Scott and Morgan Counties

The Morgan Scott project develops activities, provides training, offers assistance, and gives support to help break the cycle of poverty and enable people to help themselves. Some emergency aid is available. 

Skill Up TN

Skill Up TN is a program to help eligible individuals receiving SNAP benefits gain skills, training, and work experience needed to get a good job.
